Use SKS Nutrition AI in Claude, Cursor and VS Code (MCP server)

SKS Nutrition AI runs a public Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so AI assistants can call SKS food-science tools directly while they answer your questions. It is free within daily limits and needs no account.

Transport: Streamable HTTP. No authentication.

Tools

• search_gras_notices: Search the FDA GRAS Notice inventory by substance, use or notifier.
• check_retailer_ingredients: Screen ingredients against Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Kroger Simple Truth, Walmart, Sam's Club, Aldi and Sprouts private-label rules.
• sweetener_sugar_replacement: Sweetener amount, calories saved and bulk to replace when removing sugar.
• list_racc_categories: FDA RACC categories for Nutrition Facts serving sizes.
• search_label_ingredients: Nutrient data per 100 g from the SKS ingredient library.
• calculate_nutrition_label: FDA Nutrition Facts label per 21 CFR 101.9 from a formula.

How to connect

Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile)

1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
2. Name it "SKS Nutrition AI", paste the server URL and choose No sign-in.
3. Ask, for example: "Has FDA received any GRAS notices for allulose?"

Limits

Nutrition label calculations are limited per caller and in total each day; lookups have higher limits. Results are decision support, not regulatory approval. For full formulas, sub-ingredient compliance and reports, use the SKS Nutrition AI platform.
